This 5 day course will give you a fun introduction to the basics of sailing a small dinghy and gives you the opportunity to push yourself if you wish.

Course Content

Aiming to complete the RYA Stage 1 and RYA Stage 2 courses.

  • Stage 1: Launching and recovery, sailing across the wind, turning around, steering and basic parts of the boat
  • Stage 2: Improved sailing skills on all points of sail. Tacking, gybing, ropework and collision avoidance

Instructor to Student ratio

1 Instructor to 6 Students

Minimum Age

8 Years Old

What to bring

  • Towel
  • Spare clothes
  • Lunch
  • Wetsuit boots/ old shoes

Consider bringing

  • Wetsuit
  • Raincoat/Waterproofs
  • Any sailing kit you already own
  • Sunglasses, Sun hat, Sunscreen, Water bottle
  • Warm hat, Extra layers

Prerequisites

No previous experience required

What‎ we provide

  • Wetsuit (small range of sizes available)
  • Waterproof trousers and coat
  • Buoyancy aid

The Improver Camp builds on learning in the beginners camp, with the sailors aiming for their RYA stage 3 and State Racing of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. These camps are an excellent opportunity to get out on the water and get a lot of sailing in.
