Youth Racing Week - Toppers

Junior Topper Racing Course is designed for young sailors looking to develop their racing skills in the Topper dinghy. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have your own Topper to take part. If you do not have one, please contact the Sailing School in advance to arrange one.

Description

This course provides a structured and engaging environment where juniors can refine their boat handling, racing tactics, and on-water decision-making.

Course Content

Boat Handling & Control:  Improves sail trim, tacking, gybing, and boat balance

Race Strategy & Tactics:  Learn starting techniques, mark rounding, and racing rules.

Wind & Weather Awareness:  Understand shifts, gusts, and tidal influences.

Coaching & Feedback:

Minimum Age

8 Years Old

Prerequisites

RYA Stage 3 or Higher AND RYA Start Racing

This course will give you a fun introduction to the basics of sailing a small dinghy and gives you the opportunity to push yourself if you wish.

The Improver Camp builds on learning in the beginners camp, with the sailors aiming for their RYA stage 3 and State Racing of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. These camps are an excellent opportunity to get out on the water and get a lot of sailing in.

Designed for sailors who want to build their racing skills and confidence, These weekends offer high-quality coaching focused on improving technique, tactics, and performance on the water. The Weekend is open to sailors from all clubs. - Take part in the full two-day programme, or drop in for a single day of top-quality coaching. If sailor needs to use one of our Clubs Optimists for a weekend, this can be arranged - please contact the club in advance. There will be a charge of £10 per day.
